I love dinner-time conversations.
Maiya: Mom, can I get highlights?
Me: No
Maiya: Why?
Me: Because I said so.
Maiya: Well, that's not a good answer.
(I turned to give her the silent "Mom-look")
Ethan: That's a 'Mom-answer'. Maiya, when you grow up to be a mom, then you can tell your kids the same thing. And guess what? They'll say the same thing back to you, "That's not a good reason."
(This time she gave Ethan the "Stop-talking" look.)
Maiya: Well, it's NOT a good answer.
Ethan: Besides, who are you trying to impress in 3rd grade, huh? It's sad to see kids with highlights in elementary school. It means they're growing up way too fast.
Yep.
Glad to know Ethan has my back!
Growing up way too fast...
